The role of the judiciary in safeguarding the rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs) has evolved significantly in India, particularly in Gujarat. Despite progressive legislative measures, the implementation and enforcement of laws protecting PWDs remain fraught with challenges. This paper explores the socio-legal aspects of judicial interventions in Gujarat, with a focus on key cases and judgments that have shaped the protection of PWDs' rights. The study highlights the critical role played by courts in interpreting and enforcing disability rights, bridging gaps between law and its implementation. By examining the role of judicial activism in Gujarat, this paper aims to evaluate the extent of judicial contributions in improving the socio-economic conditions and legal protection for PWDs.
