Abstract: Women in many societies continue to face gender stereotypes and discrimination, which limit their opportunities and empowerment. Monica Ali's novel, 'Brick Lane,' offers a poignant narrative that explores the experiences of Bangladeshi women living in London, England. The novel vividly portrays the gender stereotypes and conflicts these women grapple with. This research will employ a qualitative approach to analyse 'Brick Lane,' with a specific focus on the portrayal of gender conflict and empowerment. In-depth textual analysis will be conducted to identify and examine key passages related to these themes. Additionally, the paper will seek to establish relevant secondary sources, including literary criticism and feminist theory, to support the analysis. The primary objective of this research paper is to contribute to a shared understanding of immigrant women and the ways in which empowerment can manifest despite the common challenges of patriarchal oppression they face. The paper aims to challenge stereotypes about South Asian women and to highlight the diversity of their experiences.
