The primary aim of this research is to explore the concept of the "Emerging Self" in the characters of Willa Cather's selected novels. Willa Cather, renowned for her deep psychological insights and vivid portrayals of human resilience, presents a rich tapestry of characters whose personal growth and self-discovery unfold within the framework of their challenging environments. The study intends to delve into how Cather’s characters evolve through their internal struggles and interactions with the external world, focusing on their quest for identity, belonging, and self-fulfillment. The "Emerging Self" refers to the gradual process through which these characters become more attuned to their inner desires, values, and aspirations, often in the face of societal and personal obstacles.
