Banking plays a crucial role in the economic development of any region by facilitating financial transactions, savings, and credit accessibility. With an emphasis on banking preferences, financial literacy, adoption of digital banking, and obstacles to banking service access, this study attempts to examine the banking practices of residents in the Virudhunagar area. The study looks at a number of demographic variables, including age, income, occupation, and education, that affect banking behaviours. It looks at how much use is made of more contemporary banking options like internet banking, mobile banking, and digital payments versus more conventional banking services like savings accounts, loans, and fixed deposits. The survey also assesses the district's residents' knowledge and support of government banking programs and financial inclusion efforts. The study's conclusions will shed light on Virudhunagar residents' banking habits and point out important areas where financial institutions might enhance their offerings. The study is to make recommendations for ways to improve financial inclusion, boost the use of digital banking, and raise financial literacy. In the end, this study helps policymakers and financial institutions better understand how the banking industry is changing in rural areas so they may better customize their offerings to the demands of the local population.
