CITIZENSHIP AND LINKING ALL THE CITIZENS WITH AADHAAR CARD

Abstract

In addition to transmitting cash under government schemes, the Indian government mandates that all Indian citizens link their Aadhar number to their bank accounts, mobile phone connections, PANs, and other services. People have until March 31, 2018, to link their Aadhar number to all of these services, instead of December 15, 2017, as was the previous extended deadline. There are two distinct aspects to the UID "Aadhaar" scheme. First, it has to do with "national security," and second, it has to do with "developmental" issues. Both elements are equally significant.
