Abstract

In this research, the efficacy of IT operations using big data analytics is assessed with the use of Indian IT organisation data. Big data analytics is an opportunity to increase productivity, improve service provision, and improve decision-making as the amount and complexity of data in IT operations increase. However, it is not well understood what its precise effect will have on IT operations in India. This study provides a filling of these knowledge gaps through the use of a mixed-methods approach from the application of the thorough literature review and the analysis of secondary data from the reliable industry sources cited. The analysis showed a large positive correlation between the amount of big data analytics used in the Indian IT businesses and the number of these ventures invested between 2015 and 2020. While the allowances are quite notable, the IT operations themselves were also more efficient, with a 35% drop in the number of server outages, a 28% rise in resource use, and a 22% decrease in spending. The statistical study finds that big data analytics adoption is significantly positively correlated with multiple efficiency measures. While these benefits are substantial, the report identifies some key stumbling blocks to realizing the big data analytics promise: the absence of qualified people and poor data quality. The study also provides potential approaches for solving the implementation problems and insights into the revolutionary capability of big data analytics in IT operations. This research adds knowledge of big data analytics in IT operations management to the literature and provides useful advice to stakeholders in the field. To fully exploit these technologies on their potential in improving IT operations in the Indian IT industry, it calls for continuous investment in big data analytics skills, resolving implementation bottlenecks, and building a data-driven culture.
