Impact Assessment of Solid Waste Management on Lives of Nearby Residents in Ghazipur Landfill Site

Abstract

The research paper highlights the problems faced by the dwellers of the locality that is built around the infamous landfill site of Ghazipur in Delhi. It is a home of hundreds of diseases and breeding ground of various mosquitoes and viruses. The human beings face the problem in every way be it transportation, health or livelihood. The human beings still find new ways to adjust with the foul smell emerging from this site and eyeing on government agencies to come up with the new and effective waste management plan. The research paper aims to find out the impact caused by the landfill on the residents and the level of satisfaction attained by the residents with the management of the landfill site and their locality. Therefore, a simple methodology is devised for such objectives where a semi-structured interview was framed and respondents were asked to give answers to the questions asked. Simple Random Sampling was used and sample size was 50 from all walks of life. This helped in getting a varied and diverse picture of the locality.
