INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL MEDIA AND ONLINE FORUMS ON STOCK MARKET INVESTMENTS BY SMALL INVESTORS IN NAGPUR DISTRICT
Abstract
This research paper examines the influence of social media and online forums on the stock market investment decisions of small investors in Nagpur district. With the increasing accessibility and use of digital platforms, these investors are turning to social media and online forums for information, advice, and community support. This study employs a mixedmethod approach, combining quantitative surveys of 200 small investors and qualitative interviews to explore their motivations, behaviors, and investment outcomes. The findings reveal a significant impact of these digital platforms on investment choices, highlighting both positive effects, such as enhanced confidence and access to diverse perspectives, and negative effects, such as susceptibility to misinformation and herd behavior. The study underscores the need for improved regulatory oversight and investor education to help small investors navigate the complexities of digital information sources. These insights contribute to a better understanding of the evolving investment landscape and the role of social media and online forums in shaping investment decisions.
