LINKAGE BETWEEN EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE
Abstract
Various stakeholders, including educators, parents, educational institutions, and the broader community, strive to enhance academic standards and achievements. This is vital as educational success underpins technological and scientific progress, socio-economic development, and overall life success. Identifying the key factors that contribute to high academic standards is crucial. Research has initially focused on cognitive abilities like IQ, but these alone cannot fully explain variations in academic performance. Consequently, the scope has broadened to include factors such as socioeconomic status and peer relationships. One potential factor not fully explained by cognitive abilities is Emotional Intelligence (EI). This study explores the relationship between EI and academic success, analysing existing research to assess the strength of this connection and encourage further in-depth investigations. Various secondary sources, including books, surveys, and theses, will be utilized. The study will develop testable hypotheses and examine both theoretical and practical implications. It is important to acknowledge that the study's limitations include a lack of empirical evidence.
