STATE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN SRI LANKAN SOFTWARE INDUSTRY
Abstract
The research conducted in this study has explored the advancements and discussions surrounding AI within the software industry of Sri Lanka. A comprehensive survey was conducted to gather relevant information. Despite the rapid growth of the software industry in Sri Lanka, it lags behind in the adoption of AI technologies compared to other countries globally. The survey findings indicate that this is primarily due to the lack of popularity, expertise, resources, and support for AI-related projects. The software industry in Sri Lanka possesses the necessary maturity to embrace AI technologies and has already made strides in potential markets where advanced AI research and development projects are being pursued across various domains. However, the industry has struggled to gain the required momentum, stability, and confidence in AI research and development initiatives. It is imperative for large-scale companies to prioritize AI technologies, and the necessary expertise and workforce should be cultivated through the Sri Lankan education system. Collaboration among professional organizations, research groups, academics, and industry experts is crucial in overcoming barriers and introducing AI technologies to the software industry in Sri Lanka.
