PHYTOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS AND BIOACTIVE PROPERTIES OF MEDICINAL PLANTS
Abstract
Medicinal plants have been extensively studied for their phytochemical composition and bioactive properties. The presence of secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and terpenoids contributes to their therapeutic potential. Phytochemical analysis enables the identification and quantification of these compounds, providing insight into their pharmacological activities, including antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer effects. This research article discusses the methodologies employed in phytochemical analysis, the diverse bioactive compounds found in medicinal plants, and their applications in modern medicine. The integration of advanced analytical techniques has enhanced our understanding of plant-based natural products, supporting the development of novel drugs.
