A Review on the Role of Distance and Open Learning in Mitigating the Demand of Higher Education in South Salmara Mankachar District of Assam

Abstract

Even in this digital era, in many places of India higher education is still not easily accessible and in this article we are studying such a remote, backward and frontier district of India in the state of Assam, the south salmara Mankachar district at Indo-Bangla International boarder where peoples need to travel 300 KM to the capital city of the state for pursuing university education. In such a place Distance and Open Learning (ODL) institutes like Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University KKHSOU) is a ray of hope for the citizen aspiring for pursuing higher education. In this article we have depicted a real life scenario of higher education in the district on the basis of ground level survey based research and present the result in tabular as well as bar diagram format accessible for general people as well the researcher.
