Synthesis, Characterization, Thermal and Biological Studies of Transitions Metal(II) Complexes with Primary ligand Benzofuran[3,4,5-trimethoxyphenylmethine] Carbohydrazone Schiff’s base and Secondary ligand 1,10-Phenanthroline, 2-2׀-bipyridyl mixed ligand
Abstract
The new Mixed ligand complexes of the type MLLʹ.Cl2 where M= Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II),Cd(II) and Hg(II), L= primary ligand derived from Benzofuran [3,4,5trimethoxyphenyl methine] carbohydrazone [BFTMeOPMC] and L׀ = Secondary ligands 1, 10-phenantroline (pnthr) and 2,2ʹ-bypyridyl,(bipy) were used. The coordination behavior of mixed ligand complexes have been characterized on the basis of Elemental Analysis, Conductance, Magnetic Susceptibility Measurements, UV-Vis, IR, 1H-NMR and ESR Spectral Studies. Mixed ligands behave as coordinating through the oxygen of the carbonyl group and the nitrogen of the hydrazide group of primary ligand. Based on the results, we have proposed the probable structures for all the metal complexes. Both the Mixed ligands and their complexes have been screened for their biological activities.
