A CRITICAL STUDY OF TIPU SULTAN'S OPPOSITION TO BRITISH EXPANSION IN THE ANGLO-MYSORE WARS
Abstract
The study of the Anglo-Mysore Wars is important in the political and military history of eighteenth- century colonial India. In these conflicts, Tipu Sultan bitterly resisted the expansion of the British Empire. As the ruler of Mysore, Tipu Sultan used strategic military campaigns , diplomacy , and modern technology to preserve his kingdom and independence. At this time, he reformed the state by taking military and financial help from the French and put an end to the imperialist plans of the British . In the present research essay, various aspects of Tipu Sultan's resistance in the background of British - Mysore wars, his military tactics, deployed forces, nature of wars, subsequent treaties and other important aspects of all these are going to be studied.
