Abstract

The Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, India, offers a unique blend of natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and opportunities for sustainable ecotourism. This qualitative research explores the impact of sustainable ecotourism practices on community development in Garhwal. Through in-depth interviews, participant observations, and analysis of secondary data, this study examines how ecotourism initiatives contribute to economic growth, cultural preservation, and environmental conservation. The findings indicate that sustainable ecotourism in Garhwal promotes community development by generating income, creating employment, and fostering environmental stewardship. However, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, limited community participation, and the need for better policy frameworks are also highlighted. The study suggests that addressing these challenges through collaborative efforts between local communities, government agencies, and private stakeholders can enhance the benefits of ecotourism in Garhwal.
