Abstract

Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of any democratic society. They not only reflect the will of the people but also serve as a fundamental mechanism for ensuring the accountability of governments. However, the integrity of elections can be compromised by a range of factors, including corruption, coercion, and the manipulation of voter preferences. This paper explores the various mechanisms and strategies employed globally to ensure that elections are conducted fairly and transparently. The study delves into the legal frameworks, technological innovations, and international norms that collectively safeguard the electoral process. Additionally, the paper examines challenges to electoral integrity, such as voter suppression, misinformation, and the role of money in politics, and suggests measures to mitigate these threats.
