LONLINESS, ALIENATION AND SUFFERING CAUSED BY LOVE EXPERIENCES OF SINDI AS PICTURIZED BY ARUN JOSHI’S THE FOREIGNER: AN ANALYSIS.

Abstract

This paper is an attempt to present Sindi’s loneliness, alienation and sufferings caused by his love experience with June Blynth in Arun Joshi’s The Foreigner. The article traces how Sindi Oberoi gets a sudden realization after the death of his beloved in this novel. The novel is the life story of Sindi which revolves around June, his love. The love, tenderness and affection has changed the mind of the man who has detached himself from the society. The sense of loneliness, alienation and suffering was well projected through the character Sindi by Joshi. Being born in Kenya and educated in USA and England, Sindi settles down in India after experiencing all the bitterness in life. Thus, this novel proves that the death of one’s beloved could create a tragic peripetia in one’s life.
