The expansion of student numbers and the globalization in the educational sector has placed the leadership in higher education under greater scrutiny. The National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 aims to achieve very high objectives to take Indian education at par with global standards. In these new circumstances, the leadership behaviour needs several adaptations. Going beyond the traditional hierarchical model of leadership, there is a need that the leadership has qualities of creativity, commitment, collaboration, delegation and courage.
