Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) represents a rapidly growing public health crisis on a global scale. The condition is fundamentally characterized by chronic systemic insulin resistance, progressive impairment of pancreatic beta-cell functional capacity and downstream cardiometabolic complications. Although modern pharmacological management remains an essential component of glycemic maintenance , non-pharmacological interventions serve as the core clinical foundation for T2DM management. In particular, structured nutrition education and individualized dietary counselling form the primary pillar of non-pharmacological care. This review synthesizes current global scientific literature evaluating the clinical, anthrpometric, cardiometabolic and pshycosocial outcomes associated with structured dietary interventions in T2DM care. Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) led by registered dietitians produces significant ,clinically meaningful reductions in glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) ranging between -0.37% and -1.0% a degree of efficacy that equals or exceeds many second-line oral antihyperglycemic medications.Targeted nutrition strategies consistently yield improvements in fasting blood glucose, body mass index, total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol ,serum triglycerides and systemic blood pressure. These interventions concurrently elevate patient self-efficacy and health related quality of life. This review examines underlying physiological mechanisms, intervention delivery formats, structural dose-response relationships, implementation challenges in resource-constrained environments and future directions for personalized clinical nutrition care.
